It’s not a secret for anyone that the pandemic caused an economic disaster. Many companies were highly affected by Covid-19 and were forced to close their doors. This situation led to a significant level of unemployment.

According to the BBC, 1.69 million were unemployed during the firsts months of the year. The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently announced that the unemployment rate in specific industries like tourism and leisure was the same, even in December, due to the number of coronavirus cases in the United States.

However, there’s always a solution to most problems. Despite unemployment, some professionals were able to keep their jobs. They became resilient and went after those pandemic-proof jobs. Here are some of them:

Mobile Development

The pandemic forced us to be at home most of the time to avoid getting the virus or spreading it. This eventually increased the time we spend on our mobile phones. Therefore, companies saw this as an opportunity to invest in mobile development.

Mobile apps are more convenient and straightforward than most platforms. That’s why many people prefer to shop online through them instead of doing it through a website. As a result, the demand for mobile developers increased during the pandemic.

Digital Marketing

Deloitte recently published a report showing that social media use has increased during the pandemic. For most business owners, this meant that they needed to pay more attention to their digital marketing operations.

Due to the pandemic, many companies were forced to close their doors or lost a lot of money. Therefore, they needed to be creative in terms of reinventing themselves. Digital marketing played a huge role in this process, especially for companies in the supply chain or e-commerce industry.

The demand for digital marketers grew during the Covid-19 outbreak and might continue to be in-demand this year. Many retail companies switched to an e-commerce model to stay afloat. This means a broader extension of clients for digital marketers.

Web Development

As we mentioned earlier, e-commerce drastically increased during the pandemic. It was the safest and most convenient way to make purchases. Therefore, many companies started to put more effort into their web development process or only by keeping their website up-to-date.

For some businesses, the volume of customers increased drastically, making their websites slow and inefficient. The role of a web developer is crucial in this situation.

Financial Services

Financial services kept business afloat despite the situation. It’s important to mention that many companies would struggle with their business during the pandemic without a financial advisor or manager’s help.

Having financial skills is life-saving in situations like this one because finances never stop. You can continue working regardless of the pandemic. The only things you’d need are your skills, your computer, and data.

Conclusion

Despite the Covid-19 situation, many people were able to survive financially. They went for pandemic-proof jobs that they could perform at home. It might take some time to end the pandemic, and during this period, we must remain resilient and find innovative ways to cope with the situation.
